Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Course Overview
This course develops the professional knowledge, understanding and skills needed for health and social care roles and progression. It covers person-centred practice, dignity, rights and preferences, advanced communication, professional development, regulatory awareness, and the safety and wellbeing of learners, colleagues and people using services.
Entry Criteria
- Applicants must be aged 16 or over.
- A full Level 2 qualification, such as a Level 2 vocational qualification or 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C / Grade 5-9, or equivalent; OR at least 1 year of work experience in a health and social care environment.
- English and maths should normally be at GCSE Grade A*-C / Grade 4 or above, or equivalent.
- If English is not the applicant’s first language, a minimum B2 (CEFR) level or equivalent is required.

Assessment Methods
All six units are assessed through a portfolio. Learners must provide evidence showing that they have met the learning outcomes and assessment requirements for each unit.

Delivery & Grading
- Learning may be delivered through e-learning, classroom-based teaching or a blended approach.
- The qualification is assessed on a Pass/Fail basis. Assessment is internally assessed and moderated, with external quality assurance.
Progression Opportunities
The qualification supports employment and career development in health and social care and can also support progression to further or higher education in health and social care-related subjects.
